Department of MPS & HSS:

Mathematics Physical Sciences & Humanities of Social Sciences.

The Department of Humanities and Sciences is bifurcated into Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and Department of Mathematics and Physical sciences when the campus was shifted to its new premises in 2006. Right now the department offers English language and Environmental Sciences. The department comprises of eleven faculty members of which three Doctorates working as Associate Professors and the other seven members as Assistant Professors. All the teachers are highly experienced and well qualified. It has a well equipped English Language and Communication Skills Lab that is organized as two labs - a multimedia lab and a conventional lab.

The multimedia lab helps the students improve their pronunciation, language accuracy, reading, writing and listening abilities of English. The conventional lab on the other hand creates an ambience congenial for speaking and provides a platform and opportunity to all the students to speak and develop their speaking skills.

As part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences the Department offers, apart from English for the I year students, English proficiency, communication and soft skills to the students of all the semesters in phases in consideration with the levels of proficiency. In view of the imminent on campus and off campus recruitments by reputed Multi-national and national companies, the department has extended its services towards providing training for the placements. Consequently, a number of B.Tech and MCA students have secured jobs in various organizations.

In the month of June 2006, Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences was established, comprising of 6 Faculty members of Mathematics and 2 of Physics. Present strength of faculty is 14 members.

At the inception of the college in 2001, faculty members comprising of 2 Mathematics teachers and 1 Physics teacher were under the Humanities and Sciences Department along with 1 member from English.

SCIENCE & TECHNICAL-FEST:


                                      Techfest is the annual science and technology festival of Nalla Malla Reddy Engineering College. It also refers to the independent body of students who organize this event along with many other social initiatives and outreach programs round the year. Techfest is known for hosting a variety of events that include competitions, exhibitions, lectures as well as workshops.

The activities culminate in a grand three day festival event in the campus of NMREC. which attracts people from all over the city, including students, academia, corporates and the general public.


STRUCTURE & ORGANISATION:

                                            Techfest is an entirely student organized body. The core committee has 23 members: one Overall Coordinator at the helm and 22 managers who overlook all the aspects and activities of Techfest. A team of over 80 Coordinators and Organizers along with their respective managers work in sync to execute and implement the activities of the festival. Each Manager has a portfolio assigned to him which can be broadly categorized into two sections - administration and events. The administrative portfolios primarily include tasks like accounts, infrastructure, marketing, hospitality, publicity and media along with helping with the events.

 The events portfolios include responsibility for each of the numerous happenings and initiatives taken by Techfest each year. Each manager then has his own team of coordinators and organizers. The coordinators and organizers help the manager in looking into the finer details of the department and ensuring that ideas of the team are executed smoothly.

About NMREC

The college is setup amidst lush green natural surroundings with a true pearly white building. To look at, NMREC is a commitment with joy. This college was established in the year 2001 that has been taken over by Nalla Malla Reddy Education Society and shifted to the current location in 2006 with a view to provide quality education.
The basic philosophy of the Institute is to provide quality technical education with thorough practical knowledge.

The college has the entire infrastructure necessary for the curriculum and also provides extra facilities and research centers to imbibe research culture, and give more exposure to the students. The facilities provided by the college include a huge Library with a Digital Library and a digital subscription for all the IEEE publications, and subscription to many other National and International Journals.

The college also has separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls, transport to all parts of the city, and a neat and clean canteen for serving refreshments for the students and staff.

Courses
The college has 9 academic departments and 2 supporting departments.
Engineering Departments offer B.Tech in CSE, ECE, EEE, IT, and Mechanical Engineering. B.Tech in Civil Engineering is started in 2012.
The Department of Management Studies offers MBA program for graduates.
The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department offers M.Tech in VLSI Systems design.
M.Tech in Computer Networks and Information Security is offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with CAD/CAM specialisation is being offered by the department of Mechanical Engineering.
M.Tech in Electrical Power Engineering under the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been approved by AICTE for the year 2013-14.

Faculty
The teaching faculty of the college are well qualified and from varied backgrounds consisting of research, teaching, and industry. Our faculty include highly experienced industry personnel from reputed organizations and eminent academicians from state universities and national institutes.

Professional Societies
The college has a Computer Society of India (CSI) student chapter, IEEE student chapter, IETE college chapter, Association of Electrical Engineers (AEE), and an Association of Mechanical Engineers (AME). The college also has an ISTE faculty chapter.

Faculty Development and Research
Understanding that the improvement in teaching in turn would lead to the increase in the quality of the engineers, the college has setup a center for faculty development and management (CFDM) back in 2007. The center takes care of the faculty development needs and regularly conducts workshops and training programs for faculty within the college and also for faculty from outside. It is headed by the senior professor who is a specialist in faculty training.

The research center of the college has been started in the year 2009 to involve and improve the research culture among the students and faculty. The research center encourages the faculty in research work by sponsoring them to attend conferences/workshops, and enroll in doctoral studies. The faculty are encouraged to publish their work by providing incentives for publishing papers at both national and international levels. The research center of the college conducts an annual Industry Institute research meet to foster ties between the institute and the industry. The college also has plans to setup research centers in all the departments to encourage the students in pursuing research.

The students are given thorough knowledge in both theory and practical subjects by making them involve in the subject through activities and regular participation. Regular assignments and projects help them in tuning their skills and learning new technologies which would help them in their future endeavors.
